We spent last week in beautiful, a bit rainy, quite dry, and sometimes cold Colorado. We were at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch with our friends from St. Dennis Parish in Madison, WI. We led worship for 100 of their finest members, mostly high school guys and gals.

Jeremy was not able to make it for most of the week, so our friend Ryan Peterman filled in on drums. He did a SWEET job putting up with us, being a worship leader, and hanging out with the youth. Early in the week, we found out that we would be doing a concert open to all of the groups at the conference center, so we flew Jeremy in on Friday (he was off work for July 4th). Saturday night, we had a rocking show of 6dfs originals and worship.

God did a lot of cool things last week, whether it was fun stuff like horseback riding, hiking, volleyball, and cards or deep times of prayer and brokenness in His holy, loving presence. We love the folks from St. Dennis. Praise God for safe travel and for everything He did.

If any of you Wisconsinites are reading this, please send us any pictures you have! Our email address is info @t 6dfs dotcom.

For the past few weeks, we’ve been leading worship at the UF FCA. It’s been a joy to continue to make new friends at our most favoritest university ever. A couple of weeks ago, we led in the big tent at The Family Church in Gainesville. They’re doing services in a tent as they renovate their sanctuary.

This Friday night, we’ll be at Gardenview Baptist Church in Jacksonville for a college/young adult worship service. And then at the end of June, it’s off to Colorado for a camp with St. Dennis Parish of Madison, WI.

Great fun and ministry going on. Praise God!

Last night, we led worship for the evening servce at Bryceville First Baptist Church. I (Eric) constantly tell the guys, “If I only had a video camera…” when cool video-worthy things happen. Well, I actually have one now, but decided not to bring it last night. Doh.

Video-worthy events include

- FINALLY getting a cassette adapter so we can listen to an iPod in the van. A nice mix of Hillsong United, Killers, Michael Jackson, R.E.M., and New Order among others. By the way, Jeremy really doesn’t like the song “Out of My Head” by Fastball.

- Jeremy sinking a half-court shot on his first try. As a prize, Paul gave him the tomatoes from our excellent spaghetti dinner.

- Robert telling the congregation of how he beat his leg bloody to teach his son a spiritual lesson.

- Sweet worship with ages 15-85.

Whether it’s 1,000 youth workers or 30 churchgoers, the Spirit is still the same and God is just as good. Thanks, Bryceville FBC!

- everyone awkwardly trying to avoid staring at the holes in His hands
- lots of people crying, laughing, and praising God to see Christ alive
- Jesus telling Peter how funny it was to see him jump out of the boat and start swimming to shore

God is so awesome and cool. Praise God for Jesus!

Today, we led 1,000 youth pastors and youth workers in worship at the Youth Pastor Summit in Orlando. The set was in a nice outdoor amphitheater at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The worship time was… wow. I know that the tangible shouldn’t matter — that we’re worshiping in Spirit in a one-to-one experience with God — but standing in the middle of the thick, booming voices of a thousand praising God was… can I say it again? Wow.

We have great thanks to go around. We heartily thank:

- Wes Rhan for standing in skillfully and smoothly for Paul who is in NYC this week.
- Michael Privette for laying down some powerful keys (and for being our first drummer so long ago)
- Brent Crowe for being a friend to us and allowing us this opportunity
- Bethany Phillips for blessing us all with her music and joining us on ‘Let Your Spirit Fall’
- all of you who are likely reading this now that talked to us afterwards

We were also blessed by a message from Francis Chan. We wish we had some pictures to post. If you have any, will you send them to us? Just post a comment and we’ll write you with an email address to send them to.

Just a great, great day. Makes me think a lot about who we (6dfs) are and where God is taking us next. Something we’ll probably be talking ’bout soon.

This weekend, we led worship for 3 services at The Family Church here in Gainesville. The services consisted of the Saturday PM and Sunday AM contemporary services and the early Sunday AM traditional service. We rocked as usual for the contemporary services and slowed things and Southerned them up for the traditional.

We actually enjoy doing things a little different and unplugging a bit. For the traditional service, Jeremy narrowed things down to just the snare drum and brushes. Robert and Paul each did some work on the mandolin. Eric got to experiment with more ambient sounds. We’ve never done “I’ll Fly Away” led by mandolin with some chiming delay in the background, but it sounded sweet.

Thanks to Larry Carpenter for supporting us with keys and the whole tech staff who kept things running along just fine.

We practiced last night for the Florida Navigators retreat this weekend outside of Tampa. It was fun learning some new songs. Robert made the excellent point that “we’ve written our best songs when we were learning good songs.” It’s only natural that what comes out of you is some derivative of what goes in.

As musicians, sometimes we expect for great music just to come out of nowhere, like directly from the Holy Spirit. Now, I’d never say that God won’t do that, but in MOST cases, we need stay in practice and take in and play good music to be able to produce good music of our own.

Today is the Florida presidential primary. Whether you live in Florida or elsewhere, please VOTE in your presidential primary! For information on where the candidates stand on the issues important to you, visit this great non-partisan site: ontheissues.org.
