We practiced last night for the Florida Navigators retreat this weekend outside of Tampa. It was fun learning some new songs. Robert made the excellent point that “we’ve written our best songs when we were learning good songs.” It’s only natural that what comes out of you is some derivative of what goes in.

As musicians, sometimes we expect for great music just to come out of nowhere, like directly from the Holy Spirit. Now, I’d never say that God won’t do that, but in MOST cases, we need stay in practice and take in and play good music to be able to produce good music of our own.

Tonight we played at the UF FCA. It’s always a joy to return to our roots. While most of the faces are new, we still feel like family there.

I, Eric, just got my new replacement Line 6 Verbzilla to replace the bad unit I got to begin with. Props go to Line 6 for taking care of this quickly. I called them to report the problem. They said, ship it back and we’ll send you a new one. They shipped it the day after they got the old one in. I never got a chance to explore the pedal at first, so I’m looking forward to messing with the cool sounds you can get.

6:30 am - wake up
7:30 am - get to the church
9:00 am - soundcheck with orchestra
10:30 am - morning service, 3 songs
12:30 pm - lunch
2:30 pm - naptime for most of the guys whether in Jeremy’s office or the van
5:00 pm - setup for FUEL youth service
6:30 pm - FUEL youth service, 7 songs
8:00 pm - talk to many people, teardown
9:30 pm - leave Ft. Lauderdale
1:50 am - hit Steak & Shake for milkshakes for the home stretch up I-75
2:30 am - home sweet home
